In honor of National Running Day and maybe because I needed a new challenge or maybe because I have lost all sense of how I actually feel about running... I signed up for the White Rock Half Marathon today.
It wasnt all that long ago - over fear, alcohol and some tears that my cousin Susie and I decided to run with Team in Training in honor of my cousin {Susie's sister} - My sweet cousin Kelli had been diagnosed with Stage IV Hogkin's Lymphoma. To this day, that half marathon and what it stood for and the reason I was raising money and the challenge of a non-runner running for a loved one & a cause is one of the coolest things I have ever done.
This time, I run for me. And I am pretty excited. I've got several months to get back into the running groove. Several months to see if there is this silly thing they call a 'runner's high' - because I can tell you one thing I know for sure, I haven't felt it yet.
