Welcome to Table Seven.
- I am first generation Greek-American. Or is American-Greek?
- I whole-heartedly believe in karma
- Just because everyone is doing it... It doesn't make it right. Whatever 'it' may be.
- My hair is the Superman comic shade of blueblack when the sun catches it right.
- Some kids spent their summers at a camp, we spent most of ours in Greece with relatives. It might as well as have been skit night every day with some of my family members across the pond.
- The only reason I started waxing my legs was because my legs were so riddled with black hair, they made my white tights appear dirty.
- My ability to remember phone numbers, birthdays and addresses shocks me.
- Talking into a microphone gives me odd pleasure - even though I do not need one to be heard. Walkie-talkies are pretty fantastic, too, on that same token.
- I went to a therapist once after college. In between sobs, I told him the adoption agency story. I don't remember telling him anything else. I never went back.
- I have never met a potato that I didn't like; be it mashed or fried, sweet, roasted or baked.
- I am generally attracted to dark haired men
- In the fourth grade I told a lie and my mother took me to the adoption agency because children who told lies did not belong under my family's roof. Luckily, the lady at the adoption agency said they didn't have room for me, but if I fibbed again, she would make room. I haven't really lied since -- maybe I haven't always told the whole story, but I haven't really lied.
- I love to make lists. I can make them for work purposes, personal purposes, gifting, gifts I have neglected to purchase or send yet, upcoming events. Anything. I love lists almost as much as I love crossing things off said list
- I actually look at most things, be them people, items or situations and take a picture, mentally. I don't pretend to click it, but I see it through a frame.
- My paternal grandmother lived with my family 9 months out of the year from the time she became a widow, when I was 3 til she died when I was away at college. I was 22. It was like a third parent. I didn't realize, growing up, how v.fortunate my brother and I were to have this experience
- I used to have three birthday parties every year, one for my school friends, one for my Greek friends and one for the family.
- I find bald sexy. I thank Bruce Willis for that.
- I didn't get into a 'respected' private school bc they were bothered that I could recite the television schedule for the week, verbatim, by hour and day. They explained to my parents that although I was bright and scored high, I obviously had interest in non-scholastic things and was not proper material; I still feel like I let my parents down a little. In reality, shame on that school, I think they should have accepted me, sole reason being, what a memory for a 10 year old.
- On that same note, I am awesome at Beverly Hills, 90210 random trivia. I'm not particularly proud of this fact, but you should know, I am a 90210 force to be reckon with.
- Regardless of my countless weight
issues, I have never even thought twice about becoming bulimic because
I cannot imagine putting my face where everyone else puts their ass.
- I get sick about once a year. And that is only because I am I so sick, I can't fake being well any longer.
- I hope that one day I can write and take pictures full time.
- If I can be a mother, too, that would complete the dream.
- There is much to be said for a man who knows how to dress.
- If I had a dime for every time someone asked if my life was anything like 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' I'd be rich.
- Hugs not Drugs
- If my teachers were to have taught me in song, I would be a bloody genius.
- Scotch and a little water is my drink of choice, in most instances. In the summer months, a good, ice-cold gin & tonic.
- Reason I dont have a tatt: at 15, my mother told me she would Brillo pad it off my body. And she is capable of that.
- As a child, I wore the most fashionably unathletic shoes to play soccer
- I have a chicken pox scar on my left shoulder.
- When nicknaming people, I give descriptive ones and use them to their face. EX: 'Cocky Chad' 'Erin who talks alot' 'My favorite J.E.W.' 'Dino Bravo' 'Aaron the hot guy who likes strippers'
- I am a Capricorn. It seems I indeed have most of the characteristics describing Capricorns. I find this fascinating.
- At age 7, I had an imaginary friend named Amy. Sadly, one afternoon she didn't make it across the street in time & died.
- If you think about my imaginary friend dying in a hit and run collision for too long, it will stress you out. My childhood was quite blessed and happy. Evidently, I am just a little dramatic.
- We remodeled our home when I was in the second grade. We lived in an apartment in which my bed was by a window. I claimed a man named Henry stood outside my window with a master plan of kidnapping me. Dramatic with an imagination...
- Shopping in a grocery store while hungry should be against the law.
- I am without argument completely tone deaf
- My first kiss was at 14.
- My all time favorite meal is spaghetti and meat sauce. But 80:20 meat sauce to spaghetti, if I even go for the spaghetti at all.
- I have a love/hate relationship with paper piles. I can't seem to throw them out, but I sure can cuss at them.
- I met Patrick Swayze the year that Dirty Dancing was all the rage. He denied me an autograph. Granted, we were in a church, but he deemed it 'inappropriate'. I was 11, it was at a baptism and my parents heard he would be there, so I crashed the service, not the reception.
- I love the Bachelor. Unnaturally. I think Mike Fleiss is a genius for coming up with such a ludicrous reality plot. If they brought back Temptation Island, I would totally tune in.
- I love paper, stationery and invitations. I love the idea and thought of the hand written note. When I was a little girl and would go to the grocery store with my mom, I would leave her right as we entered and spend all my time on the paper aisle. My mother would make it her last stop and scoop me on the way to check out.
-
Law & Order:SVU marathons never get old. Even though I have seen
all of them multiple times. Elliot Stabler makes me happy.
- I like the idea that I am a laid-back, easy going person. And, although, I sincerely believe that is true, I am freakishly anxiety-ridden. I find this very frustrating
- I have never been a solid sleeper. Never been able to sleep in, rarely can sleep through the entire night without waking. And it's not because I wake up to use the facilities
- I think if I saw myself as others see me, I wouldn't believe it. I haven't decided if this is a happy or a sad concept.
- I love projects. I love buying supplies, getting my hands dirty and starting said project. I am not good at the clean-up part of the project.
- I am honestly doing this blog as a writing exercise
- I had laser hair removal. On my face. And it took monthly visits for almost 3 years. My doctor claims 'I was exceptionally hairy' I think that is putting it mildly.
- God gave my parents two children, I believe, so they could see two different sides of the spectrum. One is focused, kind, dry-humored, only speaks when he has something viable to say, and freakishly responsible. The other one, well, the opposite of all those things, but still kind.
- I prefer salty to sweet.
- I really don't like cats. They may seem self sufficient and non-needy. I don't buy it. I find them annoying.
- I love to travel. Almost anywhere. At any time. Without notice.
- Mary Poppins, Pretty Woman, Can't Buy Me Love, Life is a House, Stepmom, Steel Magnolias and Ferris Bueller's Day Off are some of my most favorite movies.
- George Clooney referred to me by name one night after a brief meeting earlier in the evening. Although he couldn't pick me out of a crowd now, that moment still makes me gitty. I am smiling as I write about it.
- October is my favorite month.
- Moving back to Houston was one of the hardest things I ever did, albeit was my choice. It is also one of the better decisions at that time in my life.
- I am not good at unpacking after a trip. I will clean the dirty clothes from the trip. I will continue to use the suitcase while at home. This is kinda embarrassing, but true. Maybe I just like the idea of traveling so much, I want to keep the suitcase out?
- I believe I cried every day of the third grade. I could not tell you any reasons for my tears.
-
There are many men in my life that I have never hooked up with. This
totally goes against the rule from 'When Harry Met Sally' that men and
women can never be friends because sex gets in the way. It used to
bother me that none of the men in my life wanted to hook up.
Now, after a lifetime of knowing most of them, I am not sure that I
would have wanted to hook up with them either...
- Ok, maybe it still bothers me a little that none of them wanted me in that way.
- I am overtly emotional.
- People say I look just like my mother, when if you really look at me next to my parents, I am a mini-me in female form of my father. I consider both a compliment.
- I ran a half marathon in 2008 and raised money in honor of my cousin (my godfather & a friend) who had lymphoma. The entire experience was quite possibly one of the coolest things I have ever put my mind to and accomplished.
- I don’t know that I believed I could actually finish all 13.1 of those miles til race day. I ran almost the entire time, albeit slow – I almost sent a picture to every coach and PE teacher I’ve ever had
- Wearing flowers in your hair is quite underrated.
-
Our house was usually similar to Grand Central - a revolving door of
visitors, randoms and distinguished guests... not to mention a dog, a
cat, a cage filled with some 15 cockatiels, a talking bird in his own
cage, a yiayia that only spoke Greek, a housekeeper that only
spoke Spanish, a mother, a father, a brother and me.
- I think this blog might be the most unconventionally egotistical, vain, self centered thing I have ever done.
You are too cute.
